Who is the guy Behind the Cover of "Are you Experienced"?
Karl Ferris innovated the Psychedelic Photography in the 60's
If the 60's had it's psychedelic Icons like Jimi Hendrix, they needed someone to immortalise this period in the most psychedelic and artistic way possible and here comes Ferris.
He uses infrared in most of his work during this period.
Ferris studied at Hastings College of Art, focusing on the Pre-Raphaelite style of painting which later influenced his photography.He served two years in the Royal Air Force as an aerial photographer, there he got to work with infrared film which was create for military purpose during the World War I and started to be sold to the public in the 30's
after that Ferris became a fashion photographer for the likes of 19, Petticoat, French Mode, Marie Claire Vogue and Harper’s Bazaar.
Karl Ferris first started experimenting with colour and different types of lenses after Jimi Hendrix invited him to shoot a US version of his album ‘Are You Experienced'.
He used the infrared film and a Nikon fisheye lens after you know the end,
